This event is no longer running in San Francisco.
Head over to San Francisco's historic Pier 70 for this year's Summersalt Music Festival. This large, outdoor event features live music, arts & crafts, gourmet food, games, and more.
It is on Saturday, September 13 starting at 1pm. All music and entertainment will wrap up around 11pm.
This event started just a few years ago at the Fort Mason Center during Fleet Week. Last year, it was more of a block party with live music in Potrero Hill. They have expanded this year's event, so you can expect an entire day of entertainment and fun.
Headliners for this year's outdoor music festival include the Big Gigantic, G-Eazy, and Keys 'N Krates. Other performers in 2014 include Grandtheft, Salva, and The Gaslamp Killer. In total, nineteen bands will take the stage during the day.
This is an all ages event and everyone must buy tickets to enter.
I recommend picking up your tickets before the event.
Once they sell out, you can find additional tickets on EventBright for full price.
You can also purchase VIP tickets through the links above. These tickets include admission through a special gate, access to special bars throughout the Summersalt Music Festival, a premium viewing area, access to VIP bathrooms and more.
Pier 70 is south of AT&T Park in SF's Dogpatch district. Your best bet is to take public transit to get here as parking will be really difficult during the festival.
Here is a map of its location.
Light Rail Train: I recommend taking the K/T light rail train to the Summersalt Music Festival. It drops off about two blocks from the event and is an easy way to get in and out of this district. Take it to the 3rd Street and 20th Street stop.
Caltrain: If you are coming from the south, you can also take Caltrain to the 22nd Street stop. Walk under the freeway, heading east toward the water, and follow the signs for the entrance. Pier 70 is about four blocks away from this stop.
Buses: You can also take the 22, 48, and 91 to the 3rd and 20th Street stop.
The best places to stay are either in the downtown area or Union Square. Both offer easy access to Pier 70 and have a variety of options for all budgets. Click the links below for my recommendations.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival: Another fun event this weekend is the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival. It's two days of chocolates, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, and more. Click for this year's full schedule.
