You will find dozens of kids Halloween events in San Francisco every year. They range from the wonderful Scaregrove in Stern Grove to Halloween Hoopla at Yerba Buena Gardens.

SuperNatural Halloween at California Academy of Sciences

  • SuperNatural Halloween Event at SF's most popular museum
  • 2026 date TBD
  • 6:30 pm to 9 pm (early admission starts at 5 pm)
  • Activities include trick-or-treating, silent disco, face painting, photo booth, live animal shows, an exclusive teen lounge with arcade games, and food/beverages
  • On this day, the museum does close early to regular visitors, at 3 pm, in order to prepare for the event
  • General admission tickets are $60 for adults and $45 for youth (ages 3 - 17)

Randall Museum Halloween Fest

  • 2026 date TBD
  • Randall Museum—a free kids museum focused on science, nature, and the arts
  • Fun Halloween activities, such as creepy crafts, ghoulish games, pumpkin carving, Dr. Randallstein’s Laboratory, and so much more
  • Admission, musical entertainment, and trick-or-treating are FREE
  • Games, food, crafts and magic show at low cost
  • Best for kids from infants to age 12
  • Location: 199 Museum Way in Corona Heights Park

Halloween Hoopla at the Yerba Buena Gardens

  • Free event
  • Best for kids under 10 and their parents
  • Music, crafts, and a costume parade
  • Location: Children's Garden in the Yerba Buena Gardens at 799 Howard Street

Clancy's Pumpkin Patch

  • Find pumpkins of all sizes, shapes, and colors not often found in other pumpkin patches
  • Run through the corn maze or take a hay ride through their park
  • Kids will love the ghosts in the trees, the scarecrows throughout the patch, and the live turkeys
  • Two locations that are open throughout the month of October
  • 2101 Sloat Blvd (just outside the SF Zoo): 9 am to 7:30 pm (Sunday through Thursday), 9 am to 9 pm (Friday and Saturday)
  • 1620 7th Avenue in the Inner Sunset district: 9 am to 9 pm daily

Boo at the Zoo, San Francisco Zoo

  • 2026 dates TBD
  • Activities run from 11 am to 3 pm, with the Zoo open from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Halloween costume parade begins at noon each day with awards for the top three. Takes place near the Elinor Friend Playground.
  • The event will include a Haunted Nature Trail with special decorations for the occasion. 
  • Don't miss your chance to see the animals enjoy gourds and other fun Halloween treats!

Trick-or-Treating at the Ferry Building

  • Perfect place for kids and families to go trick-or-treating around the Ferry Building Marketplace
  • Pick up a bag in the front of the Ferry Building and then head to participating vendors
  • Location: 1 Ferry Building along the Embarcadero

Ghirardelli Spooky Square

  • TBD from 1 pm to 4 pm
  • Spooky family-friendly fun at Ghirardelli Square
  • Free pumpkin patch fountain photo ops for all
  • Activities: Spooky Magic Show (1 pm to 2 pm), Kids' Costume Parade (2 pm to 3 pm), and YAP's Halloween Dog Costume Contest (3 pm to 4 pm)
  • Location: Ghirardelli Square, 900 North Point Street, San Francisco

Chinatown Halloween Festival

  • Fun activities include pumpkin painting, scary room (not too scary), trick-or-treat lane, pumpkin patch, carnival games, costume contest, and more
  • Family-friendly event next to the Willie “Woo Woo” Wong Playground
  • Location: 830 Sacramento Street in Chinatown

Ocean Avenue Halloween Block Party

  • TBD, from 12 pm to 3 pm
  • Free to the public, family-friendly
  • Prizes and giveaways, arts and crafts, games, DJ, performances, and bounce house
  • Delicious food from local vendors
  • Location: Unity Plaza at 1002 Ocean Avenue

Cayuga Trick-or-Treating

  • TBD, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm
  • Pick up a map of participating houses during the event
  • Wear your favorite costume and have a great time! 
  • Location: near Balboa Park, from San Jose Avenue to Mission Street

Halloween Dia De Los Muertos

  • Free event located in the plaza near Plank
  • Activities include chalk artists, crafts, pumpkins, music, costume contest, and more!

Berkeley Halloween Fest & Trick-or-Treating

  • Trick-or-treating at more than 80 merchant shops along Fourth Street in Berkeley with a pumpkin on their door
  • Festival fun on Delaware at Fourth Street includes face painting, an art booth, a bubble show, scary hair, live music, and costumed characters
  • Fun for the entire family
  • Location: Berkeley, about 20 minutes east of San Francisco
