Discover the best Sonoma events in January 2023. My calendar includes top wine tasting parties, the popular WINEland event, and a few things to do at night.

Winter WINEland

Dates: 1/14 - 1/15 

The 30th Annual Winter WINEland is the perfect time to sample Sonoma County wines. The event features more than 70 wineries throughout the region.

Tickets go on sale November 10th and include tasting at all participating wineries(minimum of 3 tastes at each winery). Cost to attend is $95 Weekend, $75 Sunday Only, $10 Designated Drivers (they do not offer a Saturday Only ticket).

A Passion 4 Pinot Festival

Dates: 1/27 - 1/28

The two-day 3rd Annual Passion 4 Pinot Festival consists of four events at different winery locations in Sonoma Valley, three offered on Friday and one on Saturday evening.

Join other pinot aficionados and winemakers and discover what makes the Pinot Noir varietal so unique. The Grand Tasting on Saturday will take place at the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa. Ticket prices range from $125 to $200.

Theater in Sonoma in January

You will find several theater performances this month around Sonoma. 

  • 1/26 - 2/26: Little Shop of Horrors at the 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa
  • 1/6 - 1/22: Daddy Long Legs at the Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma

Monthly Art Walks

Santa Rosa: The monthly art walk in Santa Rosa is on the First Friday of the month from 5 pm to 7 pm. The event features live music, open studios, and a lot of fun. You will find the art walk at several galleries in the downtown area.

Sonoma (TBD): The city of Sonoma offers their art walks on the first Thursday of the month. This month's art walk runs from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. It's a chance for you to see local artists and their amazing pieces. You can also enjoy music and poetry.

Guerneville (TBD): The first Friday of the month is when you can check out local artists during the Guerneville Art Walk. Studios will be open so you can meet and speak with all of the artists. You can also enjoy some music and local wines. The event runs from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Sonoma Valley Delicious

Dates: No event in 2023

This month long event celebrates the food and wine of the Sonoma Valley. Throughout the month, you can enjoy special offers, prix fixe menus at local restaurants, special food and wine tasting events, and so much more.

You will find specials at all participating Sonoma Valley wineries, restaurants, and tasting rooms.

Sonoma County Wine Tasting Events in January 2023

There are some great winery events, and celebrations, every year in Sonoma County. Here is just a small list of them.

Buena Vista: "Vinhoga" Wine & Yoga at the Winery (1/22), event starts at 10 am in the historic Wine Tool Museum

Martin Ray Winery (1/22): A Retrospective Tasting & Lunch, 11 am to 2 pm, limited seating

2019 Events

These events are from 2019. Many wineries are waiting to start their events until a little later in the season, but this list will give you an idea on what to expect in 2023 and beyond.

Dutton-Goldfield Winery (1/17): Winter Artist Reception with Sally Rapeleye Briggs, enjoy art while drinking delicious wines and eating some wine and cheese, 4:30 pm to 6 pm

Gloria Ferrer (1/25): Winter Crab Feed, amazing winter feast with fresh crab and all the fixings, includes a wine and cheese reception to start the evening, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Hanna Winery (1/25): Winter Sunset Soiree, enjoy wine and small bites while watching the sunset over Alexander Valley, live music, 4 pm to 6 pm

Jordan Winery (1/24): High Tea in the Jordan Dining Room, enjoy wines paired with tea sandwiches and other bites, change rooms during the event so you can sit and experience it in a new way, 3 pm to 4:30 pm

Kendall-Jackson Winery (January 31st & February 1st): 15th Annual Chardonnay & Crab Feast, loads of all you can eat crab, side dishes, and more paired with chardonnay wines, 6 pm t0 9 pm

Lambert Bridge Winery (1/24): Tastemaster Weekend with winemaker Jennifer Higgins, learn how to blend and make your own wine which you can take home your own bottle, lunch is also included, 11 am to 1 pm

Meadowcroft Wines (1/25): Evening Blending Series, walk through the vineyards, learn about winemaking and then make your own wine and take home a 750 ml bottle, 5 pm to 7 pm 

Muscardini Cellars (1/18): Zapata Grill Food Truck Post-Up, enjoy wines and food from Zapata Grill from 1 pm to 4 pm

Muscardini Cellars (1/25): 15 Year Anniversary Party, 2 pm - 5 pm

Obsidian Ridge Winery (1/18): Poseidon Vineyard Crab Feed, 2nd annual crab feed with all kinds of fixin's paired with wine for you to enjoy, 5 pm to 8 pm

Passalacqua Winery (1/18): First Taste, be one of the first to try the 2018 vintage while enjoying food from Jason's Elk Chili

Roadhouse Winery (1/18 & 1/19): 5 special wines on sale as the winery opens their cellar at a discounted price, all day

Sbragia Family Vineyards (1/12): New Year's Winemaker Brunch, special tasting with winemaker Adam Sbragia, brunch, mimosa and sangria bar, and live music, 10:30 am to 1:30 pm

St. Francis Winery (1/18): Cioppino Wine Dinner, 3-course dinner paired with wines, reception outside and then dinner in the winery, starts at 6:30
