Sunday Streets

Once a month in the spring, summer and fall, one neighborhood plays host the popular Sunday Streets event. On this day, a large path of streets close to car traffic and open to pedestrians, bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts. Local businesses also come out in full force to offer free health screenings, live music and more. June's event is on the Great Highway between Ocean Beach and the SF Zoo on Sunday, June 8.

Free Tour Chinatown with an Expert Guide

Every Saturday at 10am and every Monday at 10am and 1:30pm, you can tour SF's famous Chinatown District for free with a guide from the SF Public Library. These two hour tours (sometimes longer) take you through the back alleys to help you uncover the mysteries of this interesting part of town.

No reservations required. Simply show up 10 minutes before the start time at the parking garage elevators in Portsmouth Square Park.

Take a Helicopter Tour

SF Free Folk Festival

Heading into its 38th year, the Free Folk Festival offers two days of music, dance workshops, concerts, dance parties, crafts vendors and so much more. This year, the festival is on June 21 and 22. You will find it at the Presidio Middle School at 450 30th Avenue from Noon to 10pm both days.

Matisse and the Artist Book at the Legion of Honor

Later in his life, Henri Matisse created original illustrations for books. Seven of these rare masterpieces will be on display at the Legion of Honor all month long. It's an amazing opportunity to see these unique pieces that are not often on display.

Cultivate Festival

This year's Cultivate Festival is on Saturday, June 7 in Golden Gate Park. This one-day event features demonstrations from celebrity chefs (Graham Elliot and Amanda Freitag), live music (Neon Trees, Charli XCX & Andrew MacMahon) and plenty of vendors offering up their best craft beers and gourmet food. It's free to enter the festival and it's a fun way to spend the afternoon in San Francisco.

Ocean Beach Summer Kick-Off Event

Head west to Ocean Beach on Sunday, June 8 for the one-day Summer Kick-Off event. Starting at 11am, hang out with other music lovers and enjoy the day on the beach. This year's headliner is internationally know Kraak & Smaak. Ticket are $20 per person.

Alice's Summerthing

On Sunday, June 22, enjoy live music all day long in Sharon Meadows in Golden Gate Park. This year's free concert features MAGIC!, Ingrid Michaelson, and Kodaline. You can also stop by one of the local food trucks for some yummy eats. This year's event lasts from Noon to 5pm. Get there early to get your place on the lawn.

Film night in the Park
