October is a wonderful time to visit San Francisco. You will find sunny day, cool evenings, and very little fog. It's also the time of year when some of the biggest events are scheduled.
This month, you can catch one of the final SF Giants regular season home games, head to the theater to see Phantom of the Opera, and check out works by local artists during Open Studios. Other highlights this month include Fleet Week with the Blue Angels performing, the Castro Street Fair, and the Wharf Fest.

The San Francisco Symphony offer several performances this October. Watch the Blue Angels in action at this year's Fleet Week. This large annual event includes an airshow on both Saturday & Sunday, military ship tours, and dozens of activities in Fisherman's Wharf. Most of the events are over the weekend on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11.

Enjoy a day of gourmet food, drinks, and music in Justin Herman Plaza during FallFest. During this festival, the plaza is transformed into a European marketplace with plenty of local restaurants, wineries, and more on hand all day long. You can also enjoy free live music, cooking demonstrations, and a BBQ grill off. This event lasts from Noon to 4pm.

Head out to Ocean Beach for the 32nd Annual Leap's Sandcastle Competition. This fun competition is a fundraiser to help support Leap's Arts Education Programs. Participants include local architects, artists, designers, engineers, and elementary school students. They invite the public to come and watch the competition for free.

This year's Italian Heritage Parade is on Sunday, October 11. The parade is part of the Columbus Day celebrations.
