Giants Baseball, Cherry Blossom Festival, & Easter

San Francisco is beautiful in April. The sun is usually shining and the weather is cool, yet comfortable. Since it's spring, flowers all over the city are blooming and adding color to this lovely city by the bay.

It's also the time when the annual street fairs start as well as the San Francisco Giants regular season games. Easter weekend also falls in early April and family-friendly events will run on both Saturday and Sunday.

Top events this month include the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Union Street Spring Festival, and the Cesar Chavez Festival and Parade. It's also the perfect time of year to go on a free walking tour across the Golden Gate Bridge, taste some local wines, and check out a theater performance.

Free Museum Days

Every month, several of SF's top museum offer one free admission day. You can visit places such as the Asian Art Museum, the Legion of Honor, and the Conservatory of Flowers for free. Although you can visit their permanent galleries at no cost, some still charge a small fee for their temporary exhibits on these days.

Free Walking Tour of the Golden Gate Bridge

One of the best ways to learn more about the Golden Gate Bridge is by taking a guided tour. While you will find several tours of the bridge, this walking tour is the only one that is free. It's offered by the public library every Thursday morning at 11am.

Union Street Spring Festival

The Union Street Spring Festival coincides with Easter every year. This family-friendly event features kids activities, music by local musicians, and a cute afternoon parade. You will also find special meals by Marina restaurants and an Easter Bonnet Competition.

SF Ballet

The SF Ballet has two programs in April. The Shastakovich Trilogy runs from April 8 - 19. Caprice, Yuri Possokhov World Premiere & The Four Temperaments runs from April 10 to the 21. All performances are at the War Memorial Opera House.

The Sing Off: Live Tour

Head to the Warfield on Wednesday, April 8 for The Sing Off: Live Tour. This popular NBC A Capella music competition is on the road for their second national tour. You will get to see fan favorites such as Season 2's Street Corner Symphony and Season 4's VoicePlay.

West Portal Fine Arts & Crafts Fair

Head over to the West Portal District for this annual street fair. Walk along the sidewalks to enjoy works from dozens of local artists. You will find everything from jewelry to paintings on display and for sale.

Dates: April 10 - 12 from 10am to 5pm all three days

Cherry Blossom Festival

The Cherry Blossom Festival is a two-weekend long celebration in April. It features traditional performances, food, and live music. My favorite show each year is by the Taiko Dojo Drummers. Other fun activities include the Sanrio Kids Corner, the Tea Ceremonies, and the chance to mingle with locals.

Sunday Streets

The April Sunday Streets event is on Sunday, April 12. The event lasts from 11am to around 4pm. It's the perfect day to run, bike, or walk on car free streets as you also learn more about ways to live an even healthier lifestyle. All activities are free and open to the public.

San Francisco Giants Baseball

The 2014 World Series Champions, the San Francisco Giants, kick off their home season on Monday, April 13. This month, the Giants play 10 home games against the Diamondbacks, Rockies, and Dodgers.

SF Theater: Book of Mormon

Head to the Orpheum Theater for the opening of The Book of Mormon on April 15. From the creators of South Park, this award winning comedy and musical will keep you laughing all night long. Contains explicit language (no kids under 5 allowed).

Cesar Chavez Festival and Parade

Another important event this month is the Cesar Chavez Festival and Parade. This annual event celebrates the life of Cesar Chavez, a civil and labor rights activist. The celebration kicks off with a parade starting at 11am. The festival follows from 12pm to 5pm in SF's Mission District.

Craft Brew & Bike Tour of SF

Spring is in the air and it's time for some outdoor fun. How about taking a bike tour of San Francisco as you stop by its top craft beer breweries. During this three hour tour, you will stop by three breweries to sample their local creations. Along the way, your knowledgable guide will tell you more about San Francisco and the breweries. No more than 12 people can sign up for each tour, so it's a nice, small group.

SF International Film Festival

The 58th annual San Francisco International Film Festival is April 23 - May 7 at venues all around town. This large film festival includes independent pieces from artists from around the world. It's one of the largest and longest running film festivals in the Americas.

SF Symphony

The world-renowned SF Symphony plays several nights in April 2015. Highlights this month include Heras-Casado conducts Mozart and Haydn, Myung-Whun Chung & the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tan Dun's Martial Arts Trilogy - Film with the SF Symphony. If you have never been to the symphony, I highly recommend checking it out while you are in San Francisco!

Bay Area Dance Week

Bay Area Dance Week is a 10-day festival that features more than 600 free dance performances in San Francisco and all around the Bay Area. The event offers local artists the chance to showcase their work to dance lovers from all around the world.

Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally

Head over to the Nob Hill Masonic Center for a night of comedy with Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally. This amazingly funny couple will have you laughing all night long with their new show called "The Summer of 69: No Apostrophe." Show starts at 7pm.

TAPAS Grand Wine Tasting Event

This year's TAPAS (Tempranillo Advocates Producers and Amigos Society) Grand Wine Tasting Event is on Sunday, April 26. The tasting event is from 2pm to 5pm at the Golden Gate Club in the Presidio. During this event, you get the chance to taste domestically produced wines created from grapes that originate in Spain and Portugal.

Museum Exhibit: Seduction

All month long, catch Seduction: Japan's Floating World at the Asian Art Museum. This temporary exhibit includes works of art from Yoshiwara, an important escapist location in Japan in the 17th Century. On display, you will find paintings, woodblock prints, kimonos, and an amazing 58-foot-long hand scroll that shows what it was like to visit this place.

Glen Park Festival

The annual Glen Park Festival give the community the chance to celebrate the neighborhood while meeting new friends. During this one-day event, you can listen to live music, enjoy food from local gourmet vendors, and entertain your kids with special children's entertainment all day long.

Beach Blanket Babylon

If you are looking for a unique experience, then join the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon for a performance. This musical pokes fun at popular culture with outrageous costumes, funny skits, and more. It's updated each week to reflect any changes in today's pop culture. Performances are every Wednesday - Sunday.

Transit from SFO: Are you looking for the best way to get from the San Francisco International Airport to your hotel? I recommend looking at a shuttle. These multi-person vans move people from the airport to their hotels. They seat up to 12 people, so you may stop a few times before you arrive at your destination. However, they are affordable and give you confidence that you will arrive at your hotel with very little hassle.

World Golf Championship - Cadillac Match Play

The PGA Tour is coming to San Francisco April 29 - May 3, 2015. This event will include many top PGA golfers. The purse size for this competition is $9.25 million. You can watch the practices or the tournament. All activities are at SF's TPC Harding Park.
