Salsa Festival on the Fillmore

Dance the Night Away on the Streets of San Francisco

The 2016 Salsa Festival on the Fillmore is July 15 and 16. During this two-day event, you can brush up on your dancing skills, watch dance performances, listen to live music, and dance outside at the Fillmore Center Plaza.

Heading into its sixth year, this SF festival is one of California's biggest Latin music dance parties. Every year, it draws more than 7,000 people.

In addition to dancing on the plaza, you will find three blocks of Salsa Bands, DJs, and dance instructors. All are on Fillmore Street between Eddy and Geary.

More Festival Details

The Salsa Festival on the Fillmore is from 6:30pm to 10pm both nights. Most events are free and all are open to the public.

Places to Stay Nearby

You will find several great places to stay within a short walk from the Salsa Festival on the Fillmore. The best place to look is just around the corner in Japantown. These are just a few of my favorites:

  • Hotel Tomo: 3-star hotel at 1800 Sutter Street, rooms for this weekend start at around $255

  • Hotel Kabuki: 3.5-star hotel at 1625 Post Street, rooms for this weekend start at around $205

  • The Queen Anne Hotel: 3-star hotel at 1590 Sutter Street, rooms for this weekend start at around $189

Given the location of the festival, you can easily stay almost anywhere in San Francisco. Some other top locations include Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf.

I always like to search for hotel deals before booking. My favorite place is on TripAdvisor. Click here to check out their hotel deals all around the city for this weekend.

My Favorite Restaurants Nearby

You will find dozens of amazing place to eat within steps of the festival. You will find authentic Japanese cuisine in the Japan Center Malls at 1737 Post Street. You will also find a number of great places just to the north of the Salsa Festival on the Fillmore.

Here are just a few of my favorites:

  • Harry's Bar: This pub offers great drinks as well as a number of bar food specials. You can grab a burger, some nachos or more than a dozen other pub food options. It attracts a younger crowd and is a fun place to hang out before the festival. 2020 Fillmore Street.

  • DOSA on Fillmore: This restaurant serves up some of the best South Indian food in SF. They also have a number of amazing spice-infused cocktails. 1700 Fillmore Street

  • Thai Stick on Fillmore: Another great casual option is Thai Stick on Fillmore. They offer traditional Thai food as well as cocktails, beer, and sake. 2001 Fillmore Street

  • Dino's Pizza: This family fun business has been in this area for years. They offer both pizza and Mediterranean classics. 2101 Fillmore Street
