Thanksgiving is a busy time in SF as there is a lot to see and do. Many attractions are closed on Thanksgiving Day, but open again for the rest of the weekend. Here you will find some of the best activities, restaurant recommendations and a list of attractions that are open on Thanksgiving Day.

Starting on November 22, San Francisco and the Bay Area offer several holiday tree lighting celebrations. Many of them are free and typically include live music, kids activities and a visit from Santa. In addition to tree lighting ceremonies, you will also find several places featuring Menorah Lighting celebrations and other holiday festivals.
Head over to the theater district for two highly anticipated performances in November. The Gershwins Porgy and Bess runs from November 10 - December 8 at the Golden Gate Theater. At the Curran, you can catch a performance of Peter and the Starcatcher between November 5 and December 1. The Book of Mormon starts November 27.

TPC Harding Park in San Francisco is once again the setting for this year's Charles Schwab Cup Championship. This year's event features the Top 30 Players in the Champions Tour as they compete for the title in the 2013 final event of the year!

The SF Symphony season is in full swing in November 2013. This month they have a number of performances scheduled including dramatic music from two classic films: Vertigo and Hitchcock!. Other performances include Strauss's Alpine Symphony and War Requiem.

One of the best museum exhibits showing this month is at the Asian Art Museum. Throughout November 2013, you can stop by to see Celebrations in Korean Art During the Joseon Dynasty. While you are here, make sure you spend some time on their fantastic permanent exhibits including a beautiful jade collection in their China area and some of their most ornate artifacts in their Southeast Asian rooms.

In November, you will find two highly anticipated opera performances at the War Memorial Opera House. The Flying Dutchman, the story of a ship's captain cursed to endlessly travel the seas, is from November 1 - 15. You can then catch a performance of The Barber of Seville, a charming classic about a strong woman who outwits a horrible old man with the help of a resourceful barber, from November 13 - December 1.

Head over to Pier 39 on Sunday, November 24 for Pier 39's Annual Tree Lighting Celebration. This year's 60' tree includes a variety of beautiful ornaments, bows and twinkling lights. The celebration is free and takes place in the evening at the main entrance plaza.

This year's Cirque du Soleil performance in San Francisco is Amaluna. It's a colorful story about a mysterious island governed by Goddesses and the cycles of the moon. As the queen's daughter comes to age, a storm breaks out causing a group of young men to land on the island. The queen's daughter and one of the suitors fall in love. Their love is tested, but eventually leads to a relationship of trust, faith and harmony.
