Enjoy Street Fairs, Film Festivals, & SF Giants Baseball

June is one of the best months to visit San Francisco for those that love outdoor festivals and street fairs. This month is when you can attend some of the largest including the North Beach Festival, the Union Street Festival, and the Haight Street Fair.

Film Festivals in June

Every year, SF plays host to more than 50 film festivals. This month's biggest events include the Black Film Festival, SF Doc Fest, and Frameline. All of these festivals feature independent films from up-and-coming film makers from around the world.

Free Walking Tour: Palace of Fine Arts

The Palace of Fine Arts is a beautiful building in the Marina District. It was built as part of the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition. On the first and third Saturday in June, you get the chance to learn all about this gorgeous structure. You will learn all about its statues, decorations, and its place in SF's history.

SF Ethnic Dance Festival

The four weekend long event features dozens of dance performances from local Bay Area artists. All offer a look at traditional and cultural dances from around the world. Most performances are at the Palace of Fine Arts.

SF Summer Opera

In the summer of 2015, you will find three opera performances: The Trojans, Two Women, and The Marriage of Figaro. All three feature several performances during the month starting on June 7. All shows are the at the historic War Memorial Opera House.

SF Jazz Festival

Calling all jazz lovers! This year's SF Jazz Festival is from June 9 - 21. The event kicks off with a free concert on Tuesday, June 9 from 6pm to 9pm on Octavia between Hayes & Fell Streets. Starting on June 10, you get the chance to hear world class jazz performers including Snarky Puppy, Shelby Lynne, and the Robert Glasper Trio.

A Perfect Day in SF's Mission District

Cruise around one of SF's most colorful districts on this self-guided walking tour. In one day, this tour takes you past the top attractions in this neighborhood such as the Mission San Francisco de Asis and dozens of colorful murals. A Princely Pursuit at the Legion of Honor

Throughout the month of June, head over to the Legion of Honor for A Princely Pursuit: The Malcolm D. Gutter Collection of Early Meissen Porcelain. It's a beautiful collection of rare pieces with royal roots. Most of the collection is from Asia and Europe.

Stern Grove Festival

This year's Stern Grove Festival starts on June 14. Every Sunday through August 22, you can catch live performances in the park. The schedule features both locally and internationally recognized performers every year.

Pride Parade & Festival 2015

One of the largest events this month (and this year) is the 2015 Pride Parade & Festival. This year's event is the last weekend on the month on June 27 and 28. The festival lasts both days. The popular parade is on Sunday morning starting at 10:30am.

Giants Baseball

In June, the SF Giants will play fourteen home games at AT&T Park. They will take on opponents such as the Pirates, Diamondbacks, and the Padres.

Alice Summerthing

This year's Alice Summerthing event is on Sunday, June 28th. This free event is sponsored by the radio station, Alice 97.3. All afternoon, you get the chance to listen to live music in Golden Gate Park's Sharon Meadows.

Union Square Live

San Francisco International Arts Festival

Head over to the Fort Mason Center for this year's SF International Arts Festival. During this 17-day event, you can watch several performances from theatrical productions to documentary films. Each night, there are several performances from artists from around the world.

Annie: The Musical

Head over to the Golden Gate Theater to see the classic musical, Annie. It's the story of a young orphan that wants to live out her dreams. It includes several beloved songs including "It's a Hard Knock Life," "Easy Street," and "Tomorrow."

Hushfest: Ocean Beach

Enjoy an afternoon of eclectic music from international and regional DJs at Hushfest: Ocean Beach. This unique event is a silent disco where each participant has a personal headset to enjoy the music. Every headset offers two channels, so you can select the DJ you'd like to hear. Music starts at 11am and lasts until 7pm. Admission is $25 per person.

Soy & Tofu Festival

Head over to Japantown's Peace Plaza for this year's Soy & Tofu Festival. All day long, you can enjoy live entertainment from Asian American performers, interactive games, and educational sessions on the uses of soy. You can also sample soy and tofu related products from a variety of vendors. Admission is free.

Escape from Alcatraz

This year's Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is June 7, 2015. This popular event includes a 1. 5 swim through the waters of the SF Bay starting at Alcatraz. You will then bike 18-miles through the city. The races ends with a tough 8-mile run on the trails of the Golden Gate Park National Recreation Area. Sign up early to secure your spot as this race fills up quickly.

Juneteenth Festival

The 65th annual Juneteenth Festival is on Saturday, June 13. This long running event celebrates the abolition of slavery in the US. The event includes a parade that starts at 11am. Other activities include a job fair, car show, and health & wellness fair. You can also listen to live music, enjoy a number of activities for the kids, and fill up on gourmet goodies. All events take place on Fillmore Street. Admission is free.

Brad Paisley in Concert

Enjoy Brad Paisley in concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater this June. This three time Grammy award winner will play some of his top hits including "Whiskey Lullaby," "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)," and "Southern Comfort Zone." The show starts at 7:30pm.

Sunday Streets

The June Sunday Streets event will be held along the Great Highway near Ocean Beach. This fun, car-free event gives you the chance to run, hike, or bike with fewer hassles. All day long, you will also find a number of health related activities from information booths to organized workout activities.
