On Sunday, April 27, head down to the SF Bay for this year's Opening Day on the Bay. This one-day event features a parade of more than 100 historic workboats, fireboats, tow boats and other classic and contemporary crafts. All decorated to this year's theme, Visions. Catch a performance by San Francisco's world renowned Ballet. This month, you will get the chance to see Program 5: The Shostakovich Trilogy; Program 6: Helgi Tomasson World Premiere, Maelstrom, The Rite of Spring; or Program 7: Liam Scarlett World Premiere, The Fifth Season, Suite en Blanc. All three performances are at the War Memorial Opera House in the Civic Center district.
This month's top SF Symphony performances include City Lights Film with the Orchestra, Tchaikovsky's Pathetique, and an Organ Recital All-Bach Concert with Martin Haselbock. Most performances start around 8pm and usually for around 2 hours.

The San Francisco Giants are back in action starting in April. They kick off the season at home on Tuesday, April 8 vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. In addition to the season opener, the Giants play host to the Colorado Rockies, the LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padres.

This photography exhibit at the de Young Fine Arts Museum showcases what it took to build the original Bay Bridge. It features a number of photos from 1933 to 1936. You can see it through the month of April. It's the perfect way to learn more about one of SF's masterpieces.

The 56th International Film Festival is once again making its way to San Francisco. It's the longest running film festival in the Americas dedicated to showcasing important new works. From April 25 - May 9, up to 150 films will play throughout the city. You can see narrative feature films, television and theatrical documentaries, and live and animated shorts.

Enjoy Rhone varietal wines such as Grenache, Carignan and Syrah at the 17th annual Rhone Rangers Wine Festival. This prestigious event features more than 500 wines made from around 100 producers. The Grand Tasting is on Sunday April 6, which is when you can sample these amazing wines. General admission starts at $55 per person.

On Sunday, April 20, 2014, head over to the Marina District for the Union Street Spring Celebration. In its 23rd year, this event offers you a way to celebrate Easter with family fun activities and a parade at 2pm. The event lasts from 10am to 5pm and includes a large inflatable bounce house, kids rides and games, a climbing wall, a petting zoo and much, much more!

Celebrate the life and work of Cesar Chavez, a workers and civil rights activist that founded the National Farm Workers Association (later named the United Farm Workers or UFW). Festivities begin on Saturday, April 12 at 11am with a parade starting at Dolores Park in the Mission. The celebration continues with the festival on 24th Street between Treat and Bryant with music, dancing and arts and crafts booths from 12pm to 5pm.

If you love to read, then head over to the Spring Book Sale at the Fort Mason Center. This year, you can select from up to 400,000 books. All proceeds go to support the SF Public Library and their educational programs. All books are just $1 on Sunday.

Once spring hits, I love heading up north for some wine tasting in Napa and Sonoma. This time of year, the vines are just starting to bloom and the weather is GORGEOUS!
